Finding Agencies to Help You Out With Last Minute Travel

December 1st, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

Planning your travel can be a great thing and an exercise for you in terms of organization. You need to know what to pack, where to go, what to do, and how to get there. You need to know the best travel deals, the best and the worst in dining, and the best in the worst in bargains of things that you want to buy for people back home. You need to get the best deals in not just going to and from a place, but in staying there. Some travel agencies can help you out, while others are just plain nasty. How can you weed out the bad ones and get yourself the travel experience of a lifetime?

First, if you are looking for a travel agency, look at the deals that the travel agency posts, especially when it comes to your travel deal of choice: last minute travel. Many travel agencies will naturally not favor last minute travel. It can be taxing on resources as they scramble to get you a good deal on plane fares and hotel accommodations. They will be panicking the same way that you are, with your packing and your planning. They will not like to be harassed! But if they offer some discounts already for last minute travel, it means that they have planned their company well and already foresee your needs. Pick this kind of company: the kind that anticipates travel problems.

Second, pick a company that is up front about its fees. You will get a lot of fees for last minute travel, from the hotel to your tickets, from the travel agents to your taxes. Some travel agencies can keep these fees a secret by showing you discounted rates, and then mentioning hidden fees but never telling you how much you are going to be charged. Do not be afraid to ask your travel agent about these hidden fees, and do not be afraid to walk away if your travel agent never gives you details on what these hidden fees are. Your travel agent should have nothing to hide!

Third, pick a company that actually has a reputation. In other words, do not be ashamed to consult with your friends. You need to get a company that has worked for a lot of people, not some travel agency that seemed to pop out of nowhere. A travel agency that has a reputation will also have a reputation to uphold, so they cannot simply take money from you and make your last minute travel horrendous.

Fourth, always scout around for a lot of travel agents. There will surely be many travel agencies in your area: some big travel agencies may have a lot of clients and they might not be able to give you the attention that you need for last minute travel, but they could also be used to catering to people who are on last minute travel quandaries. Smaller agencies can give you the personalized service that you need, but they might not be used to handling last minute travel arrangements. Look for many travel agents and then have an agency that exclusively handles your last minute travel needs.

These are only a few tips that you can use to help you get the travel deals that you want. Last minute travel can be a big hassle, but if you know what agencies will work well for you, you won’t have too big a problem.

There are many people that consider New York City to be the “City that Never Sleeps,” however is it possible that there are two cities that are exactly alike within America? If you have never been to the Las Vegas strip or to any one of the casinos and hotels that Las Vegas is home to, then you may be totally unaware of all the interesting activities that goes on throughout the night. Even though illegal prostitution and exchanges for sex, and underground human trafficking are some of the images that comes to one’s mind whenever one thinks about the activity on the streets of Las Vegas, there is actually a whole different and better world than what those images seem to stir up. For example, did you know that there is an important museum located right on the Las Vegas Strip? There are actually plenty of good and wholesome activities that one can enjoy while visiting Las Vegas and these experiences can be enjoyed the whole night long, which is the main reason that many people choose to call Las Vegas the other “City that Never Sleeps.”

If you are truly looking for some fun in the Las Vegas hotels then chances are that you’ve already heard about the many casinos within the walls of the hotels in Las Vegas that there are to take advantage of. Indeed, if you are staying at The Bellagio Hotel, MGM Grand, or the Mirage Hotel, these are just a few of the places that offer fantastic opportunities to experience gambling, casinos, and everything else that many people choose to come to Las Vegas for. The casinos are just only a few footsteps away when making reservations at one of the hotels on the Las Vegas Strip, which is also another good reason for choosing to bunk there.

Another great thing about the City that Never Sleeps is the fact that Las Vegas is home to plenty of night clubs and bars that one can go to in order to enjoy some of the night life around Las Vegas. Whether you want to dance the night away with your partner or you’re looking for someone to help you enjoy the true experience of Las Vegas throughout the time of your stay, there are also plenty of opportunities to meet new friends and people within the jazz and night clubs on the Las Vegas strip and heart of the city as well.

With twenty-four hour restaurants, all the night clubs and neon signs that you could imagine, one would think that the whole city of Las Vegas is either like an all-night party or simply a city that doesn’t have any need for real night-time. Indeed, there is no real need to sleep while visiting Las Vegas, because chances are that you won’t be able to enjoy a good night’s rest with all the rest of the activity that regularly goes on inside and outside some of the most world-famous hotel walls.

But if you are looking for some of the best attractions to visit in Las Vegas then chances are that you’ve come to the heart of the city of Las Vegas to experience two things: the ultimate Las Vegas vacation along with all the casinos that come with it. Indeed, there’s plenty to do while visiting the other city that never sleeps and all one has to do is take a few steps in one direction to realize it!

It is always a great experience to go to different counties. You will be able to experience different cultures, and you will also have the chance to take a look at some of the most beautiful sights in the world. However, you should always remember that you always have to think that safety first when traveling should be your top priority.

Wherever you plan on going, it is important to remember that your and your traveling companion’s safety should always be first. Besides, if an incident would occur, it will definitely make the rest of the holiday miserable.

Planning holidays or travels is not just about planning which places you should visit, but it is also about being prepared for things that may occur. So, here are some travel safety tips that you should always keep in your mind in order for you to have a more enjoyable and safer vacation.

Transportation is the first thing that you should plan ahead on. You need to remember that even when you are still in your own country, airports and bus stations are notorious for pickpockets and robberies. Always remember that you should always keep your important travel items with you at all times.

Have your luggage clearly marked in order to avoid letting someone take it by accident thinking that it’s his or her luggage. Also, instead of using cheap luggage, always go for quality pieces and well-known and reputable brands. By doing so, you will never worry about your luggage breaking or suddenly springing open in the middle of the airport terminal.

When you arrive in your destination country, always ask which taxis are safe to ride in. You can check this with a police officer or from the information desk at the airport. Also, never share taxis with stranger. And, when it comes to public transportation, avoid it late at night, especially if you are not sure where you are going.

Also, although backpackers will recommend hitchhiking, you should avoid doing this as much as possible. Whenever you are checking in to hotels, make sure that the hotel you checked-in is located in a good area. Always take not of the emergency exits and never open your hotel room door to any strangers and never invite people you just have met in your hotel room. Also, use the hotel room door lock and chain during the night.

Clothing is another thing that you should plan on to have a safe trip. The key to traveling safety is by never looking like a tourist. Always mix with the public in terms of style. Never ever wear any expensive accessories, such as gold necklaces, expensive watches, rings, and other affluent items. Never put anything that you can afford to lose in your pockets or purse. If you can, try buying a small bag that you can wear close to your body. A small bag the size of a wallet that can be worn as a necklace is a great idea. A belt bag can also provide you with security amd peace of mind.

Avoid using cash at all times. As much as possible, always use your credit card. And, when it is time for you to pay, never leave your eyes on your credit card. Accompany the waiter to the cashier when paying with a credit card to make sure that your card doesn’t get swiped with a credit card copier.

Remember these things and you can be sure that you will have a lot of fun on your travels. By keeping safety on your first priority when traveling, you can be sure that you and your travel companions will have a great time during your vacation or your holiday
wherever it may be.

When Traveling as a Student, Practice Safety First

August 18th, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

So you ask, is traveling dangerous? It is quite inherent that in any kind of travel that a person does, danger is always just around the corner yes, traveling entails a lot of risks but there are ways on how to prevent these kinds of unwanted situations just by following simple safety first tips when traveling especially if you’re just a student.

As a student traveling far away from home, you have to consider a lot of precautions like:

• Street crimes may vary in forms but the motive will still be the same. Even if you came from another country and have lived your life in a big city, you will still be startled on how crimes are made in other places.

• If you came from a small town and it will be your first time to enter the big city, keep your faith strong for there are a lot of people living in the biggest cities with the littlest of hearts and frail interest.

• If you’re going to some place where people can’t speak your tongue, you should’ve had even the slightest background of the place’s dialect or language so that you can easily get help.

As you plan your travel, make sure that you are aware of the different travel warnings and not considering the places where Americans are not safe to go. You can also register to the US Embassy of the country where you’re at just in case anything bad will happen, your country will know where to find you.

At the point of traveling alone in a stranger’s place,it’s advisable to stay safe. You can do the following:

• Apply the safety precautions that you have at home.Think of your new place as danger prone times two. But these precautions should not hinder your chances of enjoying your stay. Just avoid walking along dark and empty streets. As much as possible stash your money in places where thieves dare not search. Stay alert at all times.

• If you’re boarding a plane or crossing a boarder, never let yourself carry the items of others even if you know that person very well. You can’t plead “not guilty” if inspectors have proven that what you’re carrying are illegal drugs or explosives.

• Know about the important laws of the place you’re going to. There are certain places where bribery is beginning to become a livelihood for some public officials wherein, to literally go about safely around town, you have to give a bigger amount. In these places, your rights can be very thin.

• Pay attention to your luggage. Never let it out of your sight. There are scenarios that goes “one minute it’s there, the other minute it’s gone. In countries where poverty is their main problem, it would help at least 10 families to live through cold nights with that luggage of yours.

• be very careful when riding trains and taxis. You can easily get lost most especially if the taxi driver doesn’t get what you’re saying. You’ll just go around in circles. Worst, it can cost you so much.

Point is: preparation and knowledge will keep you safe in all your journeys. You can go in a place where you’ll really enjoy every moment that you’re there and in another where you’ll curse all the way out. Tool is, as a student, you must always be aware of the safety first practices when traveling outside your place.

The Big Five

July 24th, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

One of the most interesting and exciting vacations on offer today is the safari holiday. Some of these now have become rather more sophisticated than the tent and backpack variety and have something to offer even the most discerning of travelers.

Most visitors to East Africa, for example, choose to take a few days relaxing - jet-lag gets the best of most men and women! - at the beginning and end of their holiday lying ocean-side in a five star hotel with all of the comforts you would expect.

Kenya has lots to offer with the superb white sandy beaches edging the Indian Ocean to its vast national parks being home to some of the worlds’ most exotic creatures - including the ‘big five’.

The great wildebeest migration starts in October with literally hundreds of thousands of the animals crossing from Tanzania in the south through Kenya and back again. Men and women come from all corners of the world to witness this spectacular event and always leave in awe at the spectacle.

After the grueling road trip - Kenyan roads are not the best - its time for the luxury again. Hotel staff are very courteous and highly trained in customer care. They have had many years to polish up the service and it shows!

So if it is great snorkeling, diving courses, or dhow trips (traditional Arab sailing vessels) you are after, as they say there ‘hakuna matata’ - no problem.

Life in Kenya is relatively slow so it is a great way to relax and unwind!

Learn Something New

Learn Something New
Summer is coming again and you know you want to do something ‘different’ but just what is that you are looking for?

One of the fastest growing vacations is the kind where you learn to do something totally out of your normal, everyday life. Perhaps you are going to like to try scuba-diving?

These courses are offered in most areas but why not learn it in some exotic far-flung place and have a great adventure at the same time? Places are far apart as Zanzibar or Turkey, Kenya or Israel and the like.

Maybe you are not into the ‘watery’ sports, so what about belly-dancing or rock-climbing? Again, all on offer near you whether it is in the local community college or at the mall.

More exciting though when, for example, some dusky eyed maiden is swiveling her hips for you in some balmy Mediterranean hotspot.

If the more active holiday is not for you - try out a cookery course. Think of the shock on your friends or family’s faces when you invite them to that gourmet meal that was not delivered by the local eatery. Or display that water-color you produced yourself on the shores of the Indian Ocean.

That is not to say that you are not able to have that ‘lying in a hammock with cold drink and a good book’ kind of vacation but there is nothing more rewarding than mastering a new art.

It may be time to impress your friends, and yourself, with that latent talent you not ever knew you had!

Drop Those Pounds

For some, the idea of a great summer vacation is to do absolutely nothing but sleep, swim, eat and then sleep some more! However, there are some men and women who take the opportunity to drop some excess flab and get fit into the bargain.

Fitness camps have been springing up all over the US, offering all kinds of treatment for those of us blessed with a bigger than average girth.

But it is not just lettuce leaves and spring water. These camps - perhaps we have to call them spas since ‘camp’ has a rather rigid connotation! offer education programs and self awareness seminars to help the individual change the lifestyle that got them into trouble in the first place.

Guests are taught how to evaluate there lifestyle and to look at oneself to gain inner peace. This, coupled with an exercise regime - be it in the gym or climbing mountains - tailor made for the individual’s fitness level, equips you with all you need to start that better, more healthy, life that we all seem to promise ourselves ‘one day’.

So really it is like going back to school to learn healthy habits that are going to make you feel and look great!

Most of these spas are set in superb surroundings - maybe a mountain retreat, or perhaps a tropical beach, or even in another country.

If it is just a few pounds you want to shed or maybe it really is a time for changing your lifestyle more dramatically, then this could be the holiday for you.

The Real America

Perhaps one of the most diverse areas of the United States is the region containing Idaho, South Dakota, Montana and Wyoming.

This surely has to offer the widest range of parks, rodeos, adventure holidays, skiing holidays and river rafting adventures etc. There is more to see, do and get involved in, than possibly any other part of the US.

Mount Rushmore is situated here imagine how many men and women have to have seen this monument along with the famous Little Big Horn battle ground.

Its not all camping trips and trekking here though. Five star resorts with gourmet meals and fine wine abound and cater for the discerning palates amongst us. Did you know that there is a falls higher than the more famous Niagara Falls? Or a canyon deeper than the Grand Canyon? Surprisingly both can be found here.

There is a lot for children to do too. Imagine teaching them how to light and cook over open camp-fires. Teaching them to fish for their supper! Hiking up trails instead of sitting in front of the television a somewhat ‘old-fashioned’ way of reconnecting as a family.

There is much on offer here and it is going to seem to give the traveler something a little different. The chance to be at one with nature and see the natural wonders of the world.

So if it is wide open spaces with big skies that you are looking for this is the place. But be warned, once you have experienced this magnificent place, you may not want to leave!
